"Die Probe" ("The Test") is one of the many funny poems
of the collection "Galgenlieder" ("Gallow´s Songs") of
Christian Morgenstern (1871-1914). I set to music some
of these poems - and of other of Morgenstern´s
collections.
This one deals with the Bible parable of the camel that
more easily passes through the eye of a needle than a
rich man.
I publish the lyrics of "Die Probe/The Test" in German
and English on an extra pdf-file.
