really guys, saying Ab all the time... forget that, and call it a G# lol! you only need to call it a Bb when the piano guys tell you it can't be called an A# key. that does not apply to Ab / G#. trying to figure this song out myself... fellow Texan here, playing guitar 30 years, I want to learn this song by the 5th Beatle from Texas Billy Preston! there is a fantastic version of this song that he sang on the show Midnight Special in the mid-70s. In my head I'm hearing three chords on a repeat: G#m7 shuffle that chord a bit, then hit the C7 and slide up to finish at the C#7 chord with a double stop followed by a rest note. on the second and fourth line of the chorus part, hold on to that C#7 chord at the start of the line. edit: ahhh, no, I just got it, you repeat the rhythm figure twice each line basically, and the second time around is mostly instrumental as the vocal line is in the first half. when you get to the chorus part it should switch it up and go- "will it go round in circles" G#m7 C7 C#7 "will it fly high like a bird up in the sky" now on this part, you do change to C#7 G#m7 C#7 and follow up with the first riff G#m7 C7 C#7 in the space that follows. then you can cycle it back to the beginning and do it all over again! hehe just get that single simple rhythm pattern down, listen to the music recording and put it on repeat, get your rhythm pattern down on repeat, and then you can figure out where your vocal lines need to go

Working out a keyboard arrangement on this and your chart was very helpful. I do note that the pick up into the chorus is really just the moving of the bass note, not full chords. (The F and Gb is really a climb back to the Abm7.) . Thanks!

Main progression is Ab7, not minor 7th. On the record you can clearly hear the horns playing C natural. It's Ab7.... Bb7 Eb7 Ab7 etc etc. Listen to the bass. 🤘
